*British museum(Amenhotep III)

Colossal statue of Amenhotep III
Eighteenth Dynasty, about 1370BC From Thebes.
This fine sculpture stood in the king's mortuary temple to the west of the Nile at Thebes.
It was part of an extensive array of architectural sculpture wich adorned this temple.

The king built many temples in the country (Luxor, Memphis, Elkab, Armant). At Thebes he had a vast temple constructed to his own cult on the West Bank; the colossal statues (known as the Colossi of Memmon), are the most monumental elements still standing.. His main wife was Tiy, who seems to have played an important part in the reign. She appears on monuments more often and more prominently than virtually any queen before her. There are several letters known from the Amarna correspondance, demonstrating the close diplomatic contact of the royal courts at this time.

Pablo Picasso..Cubism!

Pablo Diego Picasso (October 25, 1881April 8, 1973) was born in Andalusia Spain, he was the first child of Don José Ruiz y Blasco (1838–1913) and María Picasso y López. Picasso’s family was middle-class; his father was also a painter who specialized in naturalistic depictions of birds and other game. He was a painter, draughtsman, and sculptor. As one of the most recognized figures in twentieth-century art, he is best known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles embodied in his work. Among his most famous works are the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907)

-Les Demoiselles d'Avignon
With Les Demoiselles d'Avignon Picasso reached a level of abstraction that was a radical enough break with the classical dominance of content over form, and the style which followed from it - Cubism. I think this picture show us the female body as Picasso's style!.

My weekend*

Last Saturday we went to Cambridge, we bought clothes and souvenirs, like the “Cambridge’s sweater” and we ate at Mc Donald’s I really liked that excursion. At night it was the Disco and there I had a lot of fun, dancing with my friends.
On Sunday I didn’t go to Thorpe Park so I stayed here and I did a lot of activities, first of all I went swimming, then I played tennis and it was great!!

The Tower of London!

Yesterday we went to the Tower of London and I liked it!!
The trip on the bus was funny, and the weather was great!!!!! It was sunny for first time since I’ve been here=) Then we went to Barbary and there we met with the guide, and old woman. After that we went through London and she showed us all the horror sites of that city.It was interesting and the guide was very nice and a little bit crazy.
The teachers gave us a “packed lunch” with a sandwich, an apple, a bottle of water, a kit-kat and chips but I didn’t like it.
I had never been to the Tower of London before, but I’d like to go again because it was fantastic!!

My first impression!=)

When I arrived at Queenswood, the sixth of July, the first thing that I thought was that I could get lost because the school is very big but I like it because there are a lot of things you can do: swimming, tennis, volleyball, badminton, football...and more!

There are two things that i don't like, one is the weather because always it's rainning and the other one is the food, I prefer spanish food=)

Apart from that everything is great, classes are interesting and I like the teachers they are nice and they always want to help you, at least the teacher who I know!

Here I met a lot of boys and girls from diferent nationalities: Turkish, Russian, German, Polish, Italian...
I hope that during the next weeks we will be have a fantastic time!
